I’m Camila, a classically trained pianist and teacher based in North West London. Over the past seven years I’ve taught students of all ages and abilities in private lessons, music schools, and state schools.
Many of my students come from nearby areas such as Harlesden, Willesden, Old Oak, North Acton, and Notting Hill, making lessons both accessible and convenient for families and adult learners across North West London.
I also wrote and illustrated My First Piano Book, which introduces music to very young children through colourful stories and playful activities.
My lessons are always tailored to each student’s goals and interests, whether that’s classical repertoire, film scores, pop music, or creative exploration through improvisation and composition. Alongside reading music and building solid technique, I help students develop confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how music works.
My kids have made really fast progress and are really enjoying playing piano thanks to Camila. She has really enthused them and seems to be great at making the little ones feel at ease.
Camila has created an excellent child-friendly system to help introduce reading music to young children. My daughter loves learning to play the piano with Camila, she is a fantastic teacher.

Camila is very patient with my kids and she makes it easy for them to understand. I can see so much progress within a short time. I will highly recommend.
Camila is really lovely teacher. She is punctual and courteous and has a lovely manner with my 9 year old son. She individualised her approach to his needs. A real inspiration.
For children, lessons are engaging and imaginative, helping them develop skills while keeping their natural curiosity alive. We learn to read music, play pieces they enjoy, and strengthen listening skills through fun activities and games.
For younger beginners (ages 4–7), I use My First Piano Book, hich I designed to make those very first steps at the piano joyful, creative, and musically rich. The aim is always to create a positive experience of music that encourages progress and long-term motivation.
Piano lessons for teenagers
Teenagers benefit from lessons that balance structure with freedom, so they can study the music they care about while building strong skills. This might mean exploring classical works, film and game soundtracks, or pop songs, alongside creative activities such as composition, improvisation, or playing by ear.
For those who want a more formal path, I offer exam preparation in both performance and theory up to Grade 8. I have extensive experience supporting learners through ABRSM, Trinity, and Trinity Rock & Pop, ensuring they develop the skills and confidence to succeed.
Piano lessons for adults
Adults often come to lessons with very personal goals – from picking up the piano as a complete beginner, to returning after many years away, or simply wanting a creative outlet alongside everyday life.
Lessons are supportive, flexible, and designed around your interests. We cover the foundations you need to progress, but the focus is always guided by what inspires you, whether that’s classical repertoire, jazz, film music, or pop arrangements. The aim is to make learning fulfilling and enjoyable, at a pace that suits you.
For a long time, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the piano, but reluctant due to my inexperience and age. When I signed up with Progress Academy, I was immediately put at ease. My piano tutor, Camila Valerio, has been amazing and very supportive, with sessions tailor-made to my needs. As a tutor, Camila has been very approachable, adaptable, and easy to follow. I would strongly recommend anyone who has been itching to learn, to sign up. You will not be disappointed.

I have been having lessons with Camila for just over a year now, and have made more progress in that time than I did with any other tutors or by using online resources. Camila is patient and takes time to explain musical concepts, and is invested in making sure I am getting the most out of my lessons by delving deeper than what is suggested in the grade books. Camila is supportive of my ambitions for music and ensures that the lessons align with this, by setting challenging but achievable objectives. Camila has had a significant impact on my approach and attitude to learning the piano, and I highly recommend lessons with her.
